Earth, a future that has been forgotten.
We all have only one common home in green and blue, which is not just for us humans but belongs to all beings in the universe. Earth Day, which is celebrated on April 22 by environmental lovers, is not just a calendar event, but an awakening for the world to hear the voice of nature and take action to save the Earth before it is too late. Saving the Earth is a collective matter and requires changes in individual behaviors, life habits, and major decisions. We are the keepers of the earth, and the future of the earth depends on us. We must hand over the Earth to our future children in the best possible way. When the breath of the earth is barely rising, this day is an opportunity for thought, learning, and taking positive actions to preserve our environment. And the importance of this day is the reason that it invites us to take responsibility for the Earth and everything related to our planet. We only have one Earth, which, with every breath it takes, tries very hard to survive.
The exact time that we have to hear the voice of the Earth has arrived. The voice that, amidst the cars, the smoke of factories, the saws that have been cutting down trees in the forests without following any rules, and thousands of other problems and pains, is silenced and lost in the midst of pollution. It is better for us to take action before the last scream of the Earth is indicates its last breaths.
At a quick glance, it is clear to us that the Earth was in good shape in the past. Abundant natural resources, pristine water resources, fresh air, and forests with towering trees and diverse wild plant species, which we saw this diversity visible everywhere. Trees are the green pillars of the earth, whose unlike their silence is ultimately considered one of the most powerful saviors of the earth. While the trees are the only source of energy, they also play a fundamental role in the health and survival of the Earth. Each tree can absorb a large amount of carbon dioxide and release oxygen into the air every year, which means fresh and healthy air for all of us. On the other hand, trees, especially those that live a long time, with their roots in the soil, prevent soil erosion and help absorb rainwater. Therefore, preserving trees is not a choice but a global responsibility.
When we look at the Earth from above, we see that most of the Earth is made up of water, about 70%. But it is an undeniable fact that not all of the water on Earth can be used, and most of it will be unused, and only a limited amount of it can be used by humans and animals. Water is a life-giving liquid for the Earth, and it is because of it, that plants and animals are alive. In the past, the volume of healthy groundwater, rivers, and lakes was very significant, and since population growth was low, that volume of water was sufficient for the population. Water is for life, and saving water is saving future generations.
Air is an invisible element that holds creation in its embrace. Although it cannot be seen with the naked eye, air is one of the elements that ensures the health of the Earth. Air is an element that keeps the earth balanced, filters harmful rays from the sun, and plays a role in phenomena such as precipitation, wind, and natural weather and climate flows. Air is composed of gases such as oxygen, which is for breathing, and carbon dioxide, which is for plant photosynthesis.
Healthy soil is one of the most important elements on Earth. In fact, healthy soil is the foundation for agriculture and plant growth. Living creatures depend on soil, and it is through soil that they can produce food, medicine, clothing, and even homes. Healthy soil means living a healthy life, and taking care of the soil and keeping it healthy is actually respecting the future.
Biodiversity is another vital and important element in the importance of the Earth. Each of the plants and creatures that live on Earth plays an important role in the continuation of life on Earth and helps greatly in balancing the cycle of life.
All elements on Earth are interconnected in a chain, or a complex network, and the destruction of any of them causes the destruction of the other elements. Air, water, soil, plants, animals, and humans are each considered a ring on this planet, and none of them survives independently of each other. Any action that threatens one of the elements actually threatens the entire universe.
It can be said be that with certainty that humans, more than any other force, have disrupted the order of the ecosystem and have become the greatest threat to the environment.
Unfortunately, with the excessive increase in population, human interference in the ecosystem has caused damage to the ecosystem. The uncontrolled cutting of forest trees, the dumping of waste and sewage into the seas, which in addition to polluting the water, has caused aquatic animals living in the seas and rivers to be unsafe from this pollution. as we mentioned about the ecosystem chain, when aquatic animals are included in the human food cycle, , pollutants will find their way into the human body, which is a serious risk to human health. Humans with doing activities that have led to global warming, have caused a decrease in rainfall and successive droughts, and the thinning of the ozone layer. Excessive use of fertilizers and pesticides also causes the destruction of the land and soil.
We depend on the planet to survive. And to live better, we need to improve our quality of life, and nothing can be better than focusing on renewable resources.
Increasing awareness and encouraging practical actions to protect the environment are among the reasons why global organizations have designated a day as World Earth Day, and in 2025, a slogan has been adopted under the title “Our Power, Our Capital”, which has highlighted the importance of using renewable resources with greater focus. This slogan cleverly refers to the fact that the greatest asset of a society is the optimal and effective use of natural resources. The greatest assets of humanity are creativity, initiative, and innovation, and they should be used in order to protect natural resources.
